Australia vs Egypt Match Preview

Australia and Egypt meet in the 2026 World Cup knockout stage after both progressed from the group phase with solid campaigns.

Australia finished second in Group D with four points after beating Turkey 2-0, losing 2-0 to USA, and drawing 0-0 with Paraguay. The Socceroos are aiming for their third-ever Round of 16 appearance, having previously reached the knockout stage in 2006 and 2022. The Pharaohs are chasing their first World Cup Round of 16 appearance since 1934, making this one of their most successful tournament runs in decades after losing all three matches at the 2018 World Cup.

The winner of this tie will advance to face either Argentina or Cape Verde in the Round of 16.
